The Learning Partnership celebrates champions of public education

Internationally renowned education leader and the Royal Bank of Canada will be honoured for their contributions to advancing public education in Canada

Toronto, ON – May 2, 2016 – On Thursday, May 25, 2017, The Learning Partnership will honour two outstanding educational stalwarts for their commitment to advancing public education.

Dr. Avis Glaze and the Royal Bank of Canada will be recognized at the Champions of Public Education 2017 Tribute Celebration, surrounded by their peers, government dignitaries, and education and business leaders, at the the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, beginning 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dr. Avis Glaze is an award-winning educator and a recognized international leader in education, having worked in more than 29 U.S. states and 26 countries. She now lives in Tsawwassen, B.C., and is currently President of Edu quest International Inc., providing a wide range of educational services. She is in demand around the globe at conferences and speaking engagements. She is well known for motivating and inspiring teachers, principals, system leaders, policy makers, politicians, parents and business leaders to realize their potential in improving their schools.

As part of this, RBC has a long established record of supporting young people in realizing their potential and education is a crucial way in which this can be achieved. Since 2007, RBC has invested more than $22.5 million in over 31 post-secondary institutions to promote entrepreneurship, social innovation, and diversity and inclusion in business, and millions more in charitable programs like The Learning Partnership’s own Investigate! Invent! Innovate!. As well, 1,069 volunteer grants were awarded in support of schools or education-related programs.

During the reception, student participants from The Learning Partnership’s programs will present their innovative projects to attendees at a Student Innovation Showcase, where guests can interact with students about their creative and innovative classroom projects on display.
